Art 3 Final
1) The 2 pieces of art that show my growth the most is the acrylic wash crocodile eyes and my space wonder project. These two pieces show my growth in many different ways. With the space wonder project, I used a type of perspective that I have already done previously in other art classes. I have also used a medium that I have some experience with (acrylic paint). However with the crocodile I projects, I am painting something that I've never tried before (animals AND eyes). Also, I am painting with a medium that is foreign to me and uncommon (acrylic wash). I feel that with using different mediums and trying new subjects, it is helping me grow in my art over time. By venturing out I can get more and more experience and get more of a feel of who I really want to be though my art. 2) All artists have weaknesses and strengths. Some have more than others while others try to fix their weaknesses. One of my weaknesses as an artist is that I over complicate things within my piece. I have to try to make every part of my project fit perfectly and look amazing whether it is a simple sketch or huge project. I always ask other people what they think and ask them what I should do. When in reality, I should just try to figure it out myself and learn from my mistakes. But, with this perfectionist personality I am very good at focusing on details within a piece. In the past, I have got lots of compliments on super tiny details throughout a piece. One example, was a sketch I did for the crocodile I project. I wanted the eyes in the sketch to look perfect so when I drew it in pencil use a tiny piece of a kneaded eraser to make freckles within the eye. Also the wrinkles and scales throughout the gator I wanted to make perfect as well throughout the face of the gator. 3) The piece that I struggled with the most through art three was the space wonder project (same project as used in #1). I struggled with this one because I lost a lot of motivation doing it and I don't think it turned out as successful as my other pieces. I think by using metallic Acrylic paint and acrylic paint as my medium, it wasn't successful. If I could redo it, I would use a different media such as prisma colors. I would also try to make the peace more dimensional and lifelike in it's own way. Also, I would have done the piece on an illustration board instead of cardboard and paper. 4) My favorite piece that I have done throughout art three was the metaphor project. This project was my favorite because I loved the idea of it from the start. Also, I liked how I drew certain aspects of the piece such as the way that I drew inside of the skin and how I made the skin stretch with the way it's being pulled. I also liked how I made the background not just a plain color but I made it gradient towards the center of a piece. I think what makes the piece "good" is how it makes the viewer think about what I wanted to portray in the piece. I also think it's "good" because I think the colors are well balanced, vibrant, and it really highlights each of the butterflies. |
