Art 2 Final
1) My most successful project to me was my perspective city project. I learned of the importance of perspective and how specific you need to be in order for the picture to look right. I used pen and ink for this project and that is unusual because I like to use color in most of my work. I think colors show more emotion and depth. By using a material I was unfamiliar with I gained more knowledge from doing the project and I feel more comfortable now with pen and ink. My inspiration for this project was from futuristic movies such as Treasure Planet. I decided to combine them all in different ways to make my own city. I also used my original ideas from previous experiences in art as well as seeing many different types of buildings in my lifetime. At the beginning of the project I wasn't sure about how the five point perspective would look because I just learned it earlier that day on top of using unfamiliar material. In the end, this project became one of my favorites and it was a project that I will never forget. 2) To me, my most unsuccessful piece was the peppermint chalk drawing. Drawing the peppermint with colored chalk was one of the most colorful mediums but to me it was the most difficult. With the chalk medium the two the colors in my piece mixed together and created other colors and it just created a big mess. Then drawing the wrapper around the candy with this medium was difficult also because the chalk was hard to do details with and hold correctly. If I could change this I would use a different medium such as acrylic paint or prism colors. Also, I would have created a background of some sort. I would have the candy on a table or even in a bowl of some sort. This peppermint drawing was difficult but in the end it taught me about about chalk drawing and what types of projects to use it for. It also taught me that I shouldn’t focus on the little details first; I should get the base done and work on it from there. 3) Over the course of the semester I have created a lot of different projects. From sculptures to paintings we have done just about it all. But to me to two that show the most growth a hand drawing and an ice cream collage. In the beginning of the school year we had to draw human hand on a piece of paper as an exercise, the drawing to me isn’t all that good. But the proportions and the placement of the lines on the hand are correct. But I could focus on more of the details and make it so the hand is more life-like. Later into the school year, we started doing collages with paper and other materials. As an exercise, I cut apart painted book pages and created an ice cream cone. This picture to me was a lot better because it showed a lot more creativity. Also, it incorporated more layers with details and showed a lot more color. This project showed that I did improve this semester. It helped me more focus on my creativity and my vision inside my artwork. 4) Throughout the year our class has done a ton of mini lessons. To me, the two that helped me the most were the leggo perspective drawing and the wine bottle drawings. For the leggo piece I drew a three point perspective leggo building. This drawing taught me about perspective and how to do it correctly so it looks right. It also taught me about using colors and making different tints and shades of each color. The wine bottle drawings taught me about value and how light hits different objects. Also, it taught me about proportion of different objects with each other. Then it also taught me about how things cast shadows and how they make the picture stand out. To me both of these exercises were successful and they taught me a lot about how to make a picture more visual just by adding value. 5) In this class we have used every medium from sculpture to painting. But my favorite medium overall was the prisma colors. This is my favorite medium because with the prisma colors they are easy to use and make my pictures stand out. Also, they are bold and bright colors that make it easy to blend and create different shades of each color. Then compared to regular colored pencils there is more of a variety of colors and it is easier to create texture. Regular colored pencils are harder to mix colors and with the prisma it is a lot easier. For example, with my peacock drawing I used prisma colors. By using them I could create the right shade of the different blues and greens. Then by layering them I could create the texture of the zoomed in feather perfectly. Finally to finish it the prisma could blend all the colors together and make my piece unique. As you can see prisma colors are the best material to use for any project. |
